# Welcome to Mars Economy

## 🤝🏽An Introduction&#x20;

**Mars Economy is a community-led DeFi project** focused on the expansion of humanity to Mars and creation of the DeFi ecosystem on the Red Planet, using cryptocurrency in a blockchain-based predictions market as a vehicle to drive the democratic approach to colonization. The Mars Economy project will also support promising projects by rewarding them with native Decentralized Mars Tokens ($DMT).

Initially, the project will act as a prediction market allowing users to stake on the outcomes connected with the colonization of Mars. Holders of the native token can vote to distribute tokens to promising projects and organizations aligned with the vision of Mars exploration and colonization. In the future, Decentralized Mars Tokens should become a basis for a decentralized open financial ecosystem on Mars.<br>

We are a community-run project, governed by the token holders who vote for all major changes to the protocol. The protocol is run on the Binance Smart Chain, maintained by various independent developers and governed by the Mars Token holders. You can find brief descriptions of the Mars Token, the governance process, and links to active communication channels in the pages to follow.
